I’ve been tracking Twitter and most of the commentary on the Boxee/Hulu issue is centered around Hulu/Boxee/Content Providers. But I think we really need to look beneath the surface to see what’s really going on and VCMike succinctly says it:
At the source of the issue is NBC and Fox’s delicate but life-sustaining relationship with the major cable operators, who aren’t thrilled that the content for which they pay the networks hundreds of millions of dollars is, courtesy of Boxee, showing up on people’s TV screens for free, and in a much more usable and intuitive interface at that.
I think he understates the time it’ll take to win this fight– I suspect it’ll take a very long time.
